The Relationship Aggression and Addictive Disorders (RAAD) Lab is a clinical psychology research lab at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville under Dr. Gregory L. Stuart.
Our research focuses broadly on the relationship between intimate partner violence (IPV) and substance use and the etiology, treatment, and prevention of IPV. More recently, we have begun to investigate the proximal associations between minority stress, substance use, and intimate partner violence in sexual and gender minority adults.
We are also open to studying a variety of related topics based on graduate students’ individual interests. For example, recent lab members have explored the relationships between substance use and hookup behavior, adverse childhood experiences and later intimate partner violence, drinking and vaping, trauma exposure and substance use, social resources and substance use, comorbid mental health concerns (e.g., internalizing disorders), predictors of dropping out of substance use treatment against medical advice, and suicidality and substance use.
